The magnefect-nano from nanoTherics is an easy-to-handle, fast and efficient cell transfection device.
The system uses a patented technology which applies proprietary, oscillating magnet arrays to greatly improve transfection speed and efficiency. This results in significantly faster and higher transfection efficiencies over the traditionally used lipid-based and static magnet assisted transfection agents.
Main features and benefits include:
Significantly faster transfection times: speeds up your experiments |
More efficient transfection with more than 1000-fold higher transfection efficiencies at short transfection times when compared to cationic lipid reagents: provides improved results |
No adverse effects on cell viability at the recommended dosage: enables potential for in-vivo use |
Simple and inexpensive to use: reduces costs |
Small footprint, compact: minimal bench-space needed |
Simple to operate: short set-up times |
Available in 24-well and 96-well formats (other formats available upon request): provides user flexibility. |
Easy to program and use: provides flexibility for different cell types |
Simple, user-defined protocols to allow quick, easy optimisation of transfection conditions for maximum flexibility and best possible results |
Minimal steps in process: no need for wash steps or for special buffers / media |
Potential to target / penetrate physical barriers in vivo (e.g. mucous layers for cystic fibrosis gene transfection) |
Successful with “hard to transfect” primary cells |
Scalable for high-throughput screening |
Allows transfection with low amounts of biomolecules |
Potential to translate to ex-vivo and in-vivo clinical use |
Cost-effective, saving time and materials |
Functional with serum and serum-free |
Using this technique:
Nucleic acids are, for example, first associated with magnetic nanoparticles using a simple one-step process. |
A strong magnetic force is applied using the magnefect-nano. |
The magnetic field rapidly draws the magnetic particles with associated nucleic acids into contact with the target cells. |
The unique, oscillating magnet arrays promotes uptake, resulting in improved, highly efficient transfection without disturbing the cell membrane or causing chromosomal damage.

nanoTherics currently offer the magnefect-nano in one of two formats, a 24-well array format or a 96-well array format.
Arrays for other culture formats are available upon request.
The systems have been designed so that the magnetic arrays can be interchanged to enable further user flexibility.
nanoTherics offers two types of ready-to-use magnetic nanoparticle reagents designed for use with the magnefect-nano.
These reagents are very cost-effective and, when used in the magnefect-nano device, offer significant improvements, including faster and higher transfection efficiencies, over other non-viral transfection systems
The reagents currently available include:
nTMag which is a universally applicable magnetic nanoparticle preparation for high efficiency nucleic acid delivery. It is mixed in a one-step procedure with the nucleic acid to be transfected and can be used with plasmid DNA, antisense oligonucleotides and siRNAs. It is highly efficient even with low doses of nucleic acids and enable very fast and efficient transfections without toxicity. |
Features include:
Highly efficient for primary cells |
Powerful for hard to transfect cells |
Non toxic |
Compatible with and without serum |
Simple, rapid and easy-to-use |
Perfect for nucleic acid delivery |
Suitable for us with all types of nucleic acids |
nTMag Plus is a magnetic nanoparticle preparation designed for use in combination with any commercially available transfection reagent such as polycations and lipids and can be used with plasmid DNA, antisense oligonucleotides, siRNAs or viruses. nTMag Plus allows creating your own optimal delivery system for transfection efficiency enhancement to improve the transfection performance of many reagents and is highly efficient and without toxicity even with low doses of nucleic acids. |
Features include:
Perfect for primary cells and hard-to-transfect cells |
Increase any transfection reagent efficiency |
Non toxic |

Magnet Assisted Transfection is generally applicable for adherent cells and has been tested with a variety of immortalized cell lines and primary cells listed on the download of the cell types tested to date. If a particular cell type or cell line is not listed this does not mean that Magnet Assisted Transfection would not work

The magneTherm AC system is a totally unique device enabling magnetic fluid / nanoparticle hyperthermia testing at a range of user-configurable frequencies.
Whilst availability of magnetic nanoparticles, and their use, is significantly increasing, until now there has been no commercially available system to enable hyperthermia testing of these particles in specific applications at a range of relevant frequencies and field strengths.
nanoTherics has recognised the difficulty in sourcing off-the-shelf equipment which meets this need yet still allows for flexibility in choice of frequencies used. The magnetherm has been designed specifically for this purpose and operates at frequencies from 70 kHz up to 1,000 kHz and field strengths up to 14 kA/m, the optimum range for in vivo applications. Since the heating capacity of magnetic nanoparticles will vary, depending on size, shape and material properties, it is critical to be able to evaluate heating capacity over this range of frequencies
This totally unique device:
Is the only commercially available hyperthermia device available for heating magnetic nanoparticles |
Has flexibility in heating frequency to enable thermal control |
Is a convenient bench-top size and portable |
Only requires a tap or a recirculating water bath for cooling |
Does not require expensive and cumbersome cryo/refrigerant coolinge |
Can be used for in vitro mouse studies |
Is fully safety-tested |
Is competitively priced |
